Don’t be surprised if you see a convoy of military green rolling through the Ottawa Valley over the weekend.
The Canadian Army will be sending Reserve personnel from the 33 Service Battalion between Ottawa and North Bay to conduct convoy and supply operations training on pre-planned routes as part of the weekend-long Exercise Owl Perch, starting on Friday.
You might see an increase in military traffic on some Ottawa Valley roads, including Highways 17 and 417, as they make a number of stops for rest, fuel, maintenance, and other training.
It’s part of the year-round preparations our military performs so that they are ready to deploy and assist first responders when emergencies or natural disasters happen in communities across Canada.
Soldiers taking part in the training will not be carrying any weapons or ammunition. However, they are asking you to take extra caution when approaching these military vehicles.
The Army says that all measures are being taken to keep any inconvenience to the public to a minimum, and they thank you for your understanding and cooperation during the exercise.
