On April 13, on-duty UOV OPP officers conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle in Laurentian Valley Township. The driver was charged with violations under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA), Criminal Code (CC) and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA).
Nicholas Colbear, 22, of Petawawa, was arrested and charged with the following CC, HTA and CAIA offences:
- Failure to comply with undertaking
- Driving while under suspension
- Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
The charges have not been proven in court.
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice and Provincial Offences Court in May 2024.
