The Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the OPP orchestrated a heartwarming charity event on March 27th, bringing together residents, businesses, and stakeholders in a unified effort to support the Pembroke and Area Warming Centre. The event, which included a successful luncheon and silent auction, exemplified the community’s collective dedication to a crucial cause.
Guests were treated to a delightful homemade chili lunch, skillfully prepared and served by devoted civilian staff and officers. The silent auction, featuring an array of donated items from local businesses and individuals, added to the event’s vibrancy, igniting spirited bidding wars and bolstering fundraising efforts.
The event’s resounding success was underscored by the impressive sum of over $3300 raised, all of which will be contributed to the Pembroke Warming Centre. This significant donation will empower the center to sustain its vital services and continue providing support to the community’s most vulnerable members.
Commander Inspector Steph Neufeld conveyed heartfelt appreciation on behalf of the UOV OPP, recognizing the extraordinary generosity and community spirit that fueled the event’s success. Neufeld emphasized the warming center’s indispensable role and extended special gratitude to all contributors, whether through donations, attendance, or volunteerism.
