Sutton Murray had his best game of the season as he netted four goals for the Pembroke Lumber Kings, but it wasn’t enough as the Kings dropped their first game of 2024, 7-6 in overtime to the visiting Cornwall Colts. Cam Hicklin and Eric Barnard also scored for the Kings who have been struggling to pick up wins as they battle for a playoff spot in the very tight Central Canada Hockey League standings. The Kings, who have played fewer games than any other team in the CCHL now have a week off before hosting the Ottawa Jr. Senators on Sunday, January 14th at 7 p.m. at the Pembroke Memorial Centre. The Central Canada Hockey League trading deadline arrives on January 10th. There have already been some significant trades as teams try to put themselves in a position to compete for a league championship. Leading into the deadline, the Lumber Kings dealt forward Ryan McNally to the Brockville Braves for winger Liam Cardiff.
