It was all hands on deck for the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP to close out 2023 while searching for a wanted man in connection with a shoplifting case at a store in Pembroke. Just after noon on the 30th, police found the suspect on a bicycle on Pembroke Street West. He was last seen on foot in a residential area after police found the bicycle had been abandoned. Officers set up containment in the area and engaged OPP’s K9 Unit and Emergency Response Team for assistance. An hour later, the wanted man was arrested in the Forced Road and Stuart Street. 32-year-old John Dagenais now faces charges of theft under$5,000 and two counts of breaching probation.
