Playing with only two regular defenceman, the Pembroke Lumber Kings dropped a 6-3 decision to the Renfrew Wolves in their final home game of 2023. The Kings have been playing with a short bench for several weeks because of injuries and suspensions and it has led to some forwards having to play defence to round out their line-up. That happened against Renfrew as both Vital Dinis and Sutton Murray played on the blueline. Dinis, Murray and Kyle Cameron scored for the Kings who dropped their fifth game in their last six outings and are looking forward to the New Year and the return of several players. Goaltender Kevin Jones, who has been outstanding, left the game after the second period because of an undisclosed injury. The Kings have one more game left in 2023. They will travel to Nepean to play the Raiders on Wednesday, December 20th before having a three week break. The Lumber Kings first home game after the holiday break is on Sunday, January 7th at 2 p.m. versus the Cornwall Colts.
