A tragedy has fallen on the local businesses of Petawawa: The Barbershop Petawawa suffered substantial fire damage in a blaze that started in the late hours Monday night.
According to the Petawawa Fire Department, the fire is contained thanks to the hard work of the 14 firefighters and 3 apparatus. Garrison Petawawa Fire Department also provided assistance from the air.
Petawawa Boulevard is closed between Victoria and Bert Street, and people near that area are being asked to keep their windows closed due to the low-lying smoke conditions.
Crews will remain on the scene throughout the day to check for fire extension and overhaul operations. According to the Office of the Fire Marshal and reaffirmed on the Barbershop Petawawa’s Facebook page that the building is a complete loss.
Upper Ottawa Valley OPP, Renfrew County Paramedics, and Hydro One also provided help tackling the flames.
