Pembroke city councils idea of running a public transit pilot project is continuing to move forward. Back in March, the city went ahead with a pre-application to the FCM Green Municipal Fund for a possible transit pilot program. Council recently discovered that the project would meet the criteria for funding and a full application can now be submitted. Councilor Brian Adballah says there is still information needed.
When asked if a full application will be sent in 2022, his answer was simple.
Councilor Brian Adballah tells myFM news that the city has still asked for additional information on costs from transportation operators in order to find real costing figures.
Once a full application is submitted, an expert panel will review all applications received and provide a funding decision. The average time for a funding decision is typically between four to six months. Under the grant program, funding of 50 percent or possibly 80 percent, up to a maximum of $500,000, may be available to offset a portion of the costs. The true levy impact of this project will only be known at time of tender for actual project costs incurred and actual fare rates established.
