The Town of Petawawa has adopted a disconnect from work policy for municipal staff.
Council approved the policy on Monday night (June 13th, 2022).
The move comes following direction from the province that requires employers with 25 or more staff to adopt a written policy on disconnecting from work.
The goal of the disconnect from work policy is to promote a healthy and sustainable work-life balance.
The policy also provides a list of exceptions where work-related communications may be needed outside of normal business hours, including emergencies or if the employee has been given notice in advance.
Town staff say the policy will be subject to ongoing review.
