A new initiative in Renfrew County will offer a wide variety of services for youth.
It’s called the Renfrew County Youth Wellness Hub and two open houses are being hosted. The Youth Wellness Hub is located at 278 Nelson Street in Pembroke. The first open house is today (June 16th) and there will be another on June 23rd, 2022. The open house will be held from 2:00pm to 6:00pm and provide an opportunity to meet staff, learn more about programs and see what’s offered. There’s also plans to open a second Youth Wellness Hub in Renfrew early in 2023.
Kim MacLeod, the Service Director for Addictions Treatment Service and Lead of the Youth Wellness Hub, tells myFM they hope to address community needs such as mental health, substance abuse and primary care.
She adds they are working closely with other service providers in Renfrew County to offer integrated services under one roof.
MacLeod says the goal is to provide easy rapid services for youth between the ages of 12 and 25.
MacLeod says the Renfrew County Youth Wellness Hub is part of a larger provincial program that is funded by the ministry of health.
MacLeod says they will have a soft launch over the summer with a grand opening planned in September when they will have a Nurse Practitioner and Mental Health and Addictions worker on site. Residents are encouraged to follow the Renfrew County Youth Wellness Hub on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and TikTok). The intake number for the Youth Wellness Hub is 613-570-8953.
