Strike action at Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) in Chalk River has been avoided.
An online bulletin from the Chalk River Professional Employees Group (CRPEG), reads a new tentative agreement has been reached after intense negotiations.
CRPEG was in a position to strike on Monday, March 14th, 2022.
The two sides had been without a contract for over a year.
The terms of the new 3-year-deal includes wage increases of 3.5 per cent in each year.
This agreement includes other gains on key issues such as:
- Premiums: Increased premiums for on-call personnel and facility managers
- Company holidays: More years of service credit
- Remote work: One-time allowance, defined categories, and recall notice
- Contracting out: MSA personnel list
Voting on the tentative agreement will be open from March 22nd to March 24th.
CRPEG represents roughly 660 nuclear scientists and engineers at CNL.
