The first ever Petawawa Ramble and Pumpkin People Festival is taking place this weekend. The community is being decorated with pumpkin people and over 45 businesses and local organizations are involved. One of the organizers and owner of Your Independent Grocer in Petawawa, Valerie Hyska, says she’s thrilled with the participation. She adds it’s the perfect opportunity to come and check out all the great things about Petawawa.
The Petawawa Ramble and Pumpkin People Festival gets started on Saturday. The Petawawa Pumpkin People Festival is a self-guided tour of the local businesses and public parks where unique Pumpkin People displays have been created to showcase community pride. You can find a full map here.
Heritage Village will be open to the public from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm both Saturday and Sunday with interactive displays, a food market, pumpkin carving contests. On Saturday night from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm you can take part in the Werewolves in the Village event.
Hyska’s Harvest Hoopla will be hosted at Your Independent Grocer and includes a pig roast, pumpkin patch and pie eating contest.
There’s also a Harvest Hike sponsored by Gear Heads. Tours depart each hour and will leave from Gearheads on Saturday and the Civic Centre on Sunday.
The Civic Centre is hosting all kinds of events on Sunday. There will be vendors, displays and harvest games including apple slingshot and pumpkin bowling.
