Education workers in Renfrew County are among the 55,000 support workers across the province who say they’re likely going on
strike next week.
CUPE says it’s given five days notice of its intention to stop work on Monday.
Members began a work-to-rule campaign this week, after contract talks with the provincial government broke down over the weekend.
At the Renfrew County District School Board, the affected employees work in information technology, clerical, facilities and custodial staff.
At the Renfrew County Catholic District School Board, custodians are included in this strike notice. The schools affected are St. Joseph’s in Arnprior, St. John Bosco in Barry’s Bay, St. Anthony’s in Chalk River, George Vanier in Combermere, St. Mary’s in Deep River, St. Andrew’s in Killaloe, St. Francis of Assisi in Petawawa, Holy Name in Pembroke, Our Lady Of Lourdes in Pembroke, Our Lady Of Grace in Westmeath, Bishop Smith High School in Pembroke, and St. Joseph’s Catholic High School in Renfrew.
CUPE says it’s willing to go back to the bargaining table to avoid a full strike.
