About $6,000 was raised to support the Ontario SPCA Renfrew County Animal Centre at the Friends for Life Walk on Sunday. Around 80 people registered for walk at the Pembroke Marina with upwards of 60 dogs, several horses and even a kitten participating. Community Development Coordinator Heather Jobe says the day was a tremendous success.
Jobe says all in, they are just shy of $20,000 raised to support animals in need in our community. The day was filled with pet friendly vendors, a scavenger hunt, prizes, a lure chase for dogs and music from myFM along with a live performance from musician Gillan Rutz. Donations are always being accepted online and in person at the shelter in Pembroke. Jobe says they have another fundraiser coming up on Friday at Dragonfly Golf Links in Renfrew.
