The Town of Petawawa is getting funding to provide community transportation. Petawawa has entered into a services agreement with the Ministry of Transportation that will the town receive a grant of about half a million dollars. The town has retained Carefor Health & Community Services to deliver the transportation service and will use the newly announced funding to purchase a vehicle. Mayor Bob Sweet says this will help residents get to appointments, grocery stores, and around town.
Sweet says this will fill a need in the community for those with a lack of transportation options. He says all the details are still being worked on and there’s no exact date as to when the new transportation program will be rolled out. There will be a cost associated with the service and more details will be shared by the Town of Petawawa as they become available.
