PETAWAWA FIRE CHIEF SOUNDS ALARM ABOUT RESPONSE TIME

With the start of school and Fire Prevention Week, means fire drills. Petawawa Fire Chief, Steve Knott, says that these drills are a chance to reveal some flaws. One major problem that Knott noted was that some of the alarm monitoring companies used by schools are not based in Ontario or in Canada, so the time it takes those monitoring companies to reach out to dispatch is taking too long. Knott says that the drill at Valour on Tuesday (Oct 10) took in excess of 12 minutes, and two other schools within the last week had the same issue.
